Here is THE news that has set Harry Potter fans in a frenzy the last couple of days. JK Rowling has launched a site called Pottermore. Now by the title you would think that it sounds like an announcement of more books but unfortunately that is not the case. Her reps. have denied that it is a launch of more books but that fans will be 'equally excited' about this new venture.
Countdown to announcement on YouTube:
And after the nail biting wait (that seemed to last forever) the announcement was made. On Thursday June the 23rd A video of Rowling was released where she introduces and talks about the site. It is going to be a an interactive place where fans will be able to experience books as well as gain access to information about the world of Harry Potter and the characters we have all come to love and hate. Rowling also goes on to state that at Pottermore fans will be able to buy audiobooks and for the first time ever e-books of the Harry Potter series.
This is all the information that we have for now. The owls that have come to deliver this have now left again. The actual site doesn't open until October. However, on July 31st which is apparently Harry's birthday a few lucky fans will gain early access and help shape the start of the Pottermore community and experience, while the rest of us will have to wait.
Until we know more, there’s not much left to say. But for now, take a look at these (unofficial) preview shots from the facebook page:
I'm excited and I've never even read the books! (I know - shame on me!) New follower!
ReplyDeleteEven with the details divulged, I'll be curious to see what kind of experience Pottermore will be in the end. Sounds interesting at the very least.
ReplyDeleteYay Harry Potter! Do we really have to wait until October? S.O.S. I think I'm having a heart attack.
