Synopsis (from Goodreads): Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didn’t understand that once love -- the deliria -- blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the governments demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver was a great read. The concept, though terrifying, was unique and totally fresh. Lauren Oliver's writing style is thoughtful, gripping, and overflowing with emotion. I found that I could believe a story where love was considered a disease to be cured. One of my favorite movies, Equilibrium, dealt with the suppression of emotion so beautifully as well. Along with the strong writing of Lauren Oliver I felt that the concept of the story was intriguing which made the story a great read overall. The main character, Lena Holoway was memorable leaping off the page as soon as I began reading. The ending was a true cliff hanger and left me gripped wondering were the story would go next. It is a good thing that Pandemonium (the next book in the series) will be coming out soon.

Overall, I would recommend this book. The concept was intriguing and that coupled with the great writing of Lauren Oliver you can't go wrong.

Happy reading
