Synopsis (from Goodreads): In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck...
A sophisticated, layered, and heart-achingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make, and the ultimate choice Mia commands.
Well written, well thought out characters and an everyday story that tugs at the heartstrings. That was the impression "If I Stay" left on me. From the first page, Gayle Forman commands the attention of the reader as she simply and beautifully makes you become invested as a reader. There have been books that have terrified me with their horror, kept me up at night with their gore but this one really attached itself to my heart. Mia, a young musician, lays in coma as she grapples with the final question of whether to survive or succumb to her injuries.
I loved every page of this book, there was never a dull moment. The writing was so strong that many of the family scenes I felt as if I was sitting at the table during breakfast or riding in the car before the horrible accident. And that is what great writing does, it takes you in and runs away with your heart and mind. I am definitely going to read "Where She Went" to continue on this journey with Mia.
