BOOK TRAILER: DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE

I have to say I have not yet read "Daughter of Smoke and Bone" but I now cannot wait to get my hands on a copy. Why you say? Well for one I read the premise of the book and was intrigued and secondly and most importantly I have heard raging/glowing reviews for it. I thought to myself "Okay. Will read later." I then stored the information away in my head and hadn't thought about it for a couple of months. Then I came upon this series of trailers illustrating the book. Now I have to say it is right at the top of my list of books to get. They are beautiful and I wanted to share them with you. Enjoy!

*note: there are 5 parts/trailers

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS #2

In honor of the final Harry Potter film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 here is the final trailer that was released. It has been such a long and wonderful journey that I am kinda shocked that it is all actually going to end. I always had Harry Potter book or movie to look forward to but no more books and after this movie there will be no more films. I was talking to my sister last night and she came to me and said "Can you believe that Harry Potter is over. There will be no more Harry Potter." Honestly up until that point I had never thought of it that way because I was really still in denial somewhere in my brain. So with much sorrow here is the trailer (which is amazing by the way). But on a light note we will always have the books and the movies to go back to. Thanks Ms. J.K. Rowling for the amazing ride.

xoxo

BREAKING DAWN TRAILER

Here is the recently released and much anticipated trailer to Breaking Dawn. This is the trailer for Part 1 (because the final book was split into two movies). It looks pretty good and I have to say I am kinda looking forward to it. It is scheduled to be released on November 18, 2011. Until then this will have to do!

Happy reading

BOOK TRAILER (13): ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD BY KENDARE BLAKE

"Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story…"

Great hook to match this great trailer. Definitely eye catching!!

BOOK TRAILER (12): TIGER'S CURSE BY COLLEEN HOUCK

Here is a trailer that really caught my attention. I am not really familiar with Colleen Houck's work but Tiger's Curse certainly grabbed me. What a great job on the trailer. Many shades of blue but beautiful nonetheless.

BOOK TRAILER (11): THE LOST SAINT BY BREE DESPAIN

I have seen the Dark Divine books by Bree Despain of which The Lost Saint is the second in the series. The covers are beautiful and have always caught my attention. So, when I saw this trailer I was pleasantly surprised. I have not read this series but it sounds good. There is quite a bit of mystery and I always like a little mystery to my stories. A well shot, enjoyable trailer.

BOOK TRAILER (10): HALO BY ALEXANDRA ADORNETTO

What a striking trailer. "Halo" is the story of three angels who are sent down to bring good to the world: Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, who is a teenage girl. The overall look of the trailer was graphic and very modern. I liked that it started out dark and by the end there is the light. Overall, it was a well thought out trailer with a lot of appeal. Enjoy!

BOOK TRAILER (9): TELL ME A SECRET BY HOLLY CUPALA

This book trailer is by far one of the best ones that I have seen thus far. I am not sure at the technique that was used to create such beautiful images but the final product speaks for itself. The movement and coloring was like nothing I had seen before and gorgeous. The use of cute innocent images with the underlying darkness that is present gives the viewer a peak into a complex character as well as what to expect from the book. Overall, it was well done and I throughly enjoyed watching it.

BOOK TRAILER (8): NEVERLAND BY DOUGLAS CLEGG

From Douglas Clegg, New York Times bestselling author of Isis, comes a southern gothic tale of family secrets and games of innocence turned to darkness.

I am absolutely terrified as well as intrigued by this story. Upon initial glance of the title it stirs up the connection to the other Neverland we all know and love. This book my friends is the exact opposite of light and happy but a dark and twisted gothic tale. I have read horror novels before (who didn't love R.L. Stine growing up) but I am not a die hard fan of the genre. However Neverland by Douglas Clegg is just the kind of engrossing tale that has sucked me right in. I hope I have the courage to pick this one up.

BOOK TRAILER (7): HOLD STILL BY NINA LACOUR

This trailer caught my attention at first and then I was very intrigued and had to find out more. As you see from the synopsis this is a very promising book that deals with issues that families, society and friends sometimes might over look. I was glad to come across a book that dealt with this somewhat taboo subject. This is a novel I hope to be able to read in the near future.

BOOK TRAILER (6): WILDWING BY EMILY WHITMAN

Wildwing has all the components of a potentially great story. It is a piece of historical fiction which is a genre I generally enjoy. There is also an element of time travel as well which could prove to be very interesting. Overall it looks very promising and I hope I can get around to reading it.

BOOK TRAILER (5): REVOLUTION BY JENNIFER DONNELLY

Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly was recently released on October 12, 2010. In this video the author talks about the book as well as how she was first inspired to write it. As you will see in the video it is a very fascinating journey. Revolution is a book of contrasts mixing history and fiction, the old and the new, the past and the present, Handl/Wagner and Radiohead, Brooklyn and Paris. It sounds amazing and from some of the reviews that I have read it looks like it will be a great one. Revolution reminds me a lot of The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova (which I LOVED). Historical fiction novel with a contemporary storline... I'm thinking how soon can I get this book.

BOOK TRAILER (4): THE HOLLOW BY JESSICA VERDAY

What a beautiful trailer. This video really caught my eyes and ears (beautiful images and score). I am not familiar with Jessica Verday's work, but I read the synopsis for The Hollow and I'm intrigued by the story. Nothing can compete with a good suspenseful mystery and this book seems to promise just that. Definitely putting this in my 'Must Read' pile.

BOOK TRAILER (3): "STILL WOLF WATCHING" A SHIVER TRAILER BY MAGGIE STIEFVATER

This book trailer is for the novel Shiver. It is done in the style of stop motion (which requires a lot of patience). The end result is amazing.  This trailer is unique in that it is actually done by the author even down to the music. She is clearly a very talented and creative person. I enjoyed this trailer a lot. It was different than any other one that I had seen. It is visually stunning and the music is a simple background to the character cut outs telling the story. Well done and a joy to watch.

BOOK TRAILER (2): WHITE CAT BY HOLLY BLACK

I first heard about White Cat by Holly Black after watching the book trailer. I am a huge fan of youtube (the best invention since sliced bread... or at least close second) and sometimes I find myself perusing videos late into the night. In one of these late night sessions there it was- the trailer for White Cat. This was not the first time that I had been introduced to the work of Holly Black. I had read Tithe, the first in the Modern Faerie Tales series, and I enjoyed it.

So, I was excited to see that Holly had written a new series called The Curse Workers and I just had to see the trailer for myself. This book trailer is one of the better ones out there and I’ve seen a few. The photography was amazing and I loved the music in the background which complemented the pictures perfectly. Overall, it is a great book trailer that lures you in to the world of the curse workers. Definitely can’t wait to read this one.

BOOK TRAILER (1): THE POISON DIARIES BY MARYROSE WOOD

This is my first post on book trailers. I first came upon book trailers about a year back and I was impressed by how good some of them were. They are the modern version of a movie trailer hence the name. Like its older and more experienced brother the book trailer has only been around since 2003 and is a new promotional tool to the literature industry. After my experience I find that book trailers add and enhance the novels they represent. They are short, sweet and to the point, giving just enough for you to get an idea of what the book is about. And so I will be posting book trailers that have caught my attention and I hope will appeal to you as well.

Therefore the first book trailer that I was blown away by was for the novel "The Poison Diaries" by Maryrose Wood. This trailer is erie, haunting and the narration is quite beautiful. I enjoyed it immensely. I did not hear of this book prior to this trailer but I've been gripped and hope to read it soon. Enjoy!
