TOP TEN: ALL TIME FAVORITE CHARACTERS IN BOOKS

Hey everyone. This week I am participating in Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke And The Bookish. Every Tuesday  over at The Broke and the Bookish they post their top ten lists on various topics. They also have a designated Top Ten Tuesday page where they have previous topics and upcoming topics listed out as well.

This week's top ten is...

TOP TEN ALL TIME FAVORITE CHARACTERS IN BOOKS

Jane Eyre JANE EYRE- I loved being inside the head of shy reserved Jane. She grabs you into her sad world because you sympathize so much with her plight.

The Weasley Twins HARRY POTTER- They were the most lovable characters in the series for me.

Anne Shirley ANNE OF GREEN GABLES- What was there to not love about Anne, even her red hair, which she hates.

Peeta Mallark HUNGER GAMES- I am most definitely team Peeta, let me declare that now. That said, he is SO SWEET it's kinda hard to imagine a person can ever be that perfect. I guess that is why he is a fictional character right!

Elizabeth Bennet PRIDE AND PREJUDICE- Smart, beautiful Elizabeth. I was as much gripped by her as Darcy was. She is the centerpiece of this great novel, in my opinion.

Atticus Finch TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD- Such a beloved novel it is hard to believe that Harper Lee never wrote another. But I am glad she wrote this one because how else would we have ever come to know of one of the greatest hero's in fiction.

Etienne St.Claire ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS- For some real fluff this romantic novel was great. But Etienne was the cherry on a beautifully built cup cake.

Amma Trudeau BEAUTIFUL CREATURES- Amma is the grandma we all have or wish we had. She is kooky, spooky and straight up maple syrup. Love her.

Jospehine (Jo) March LITTLE WOMEN- I love all the March sisters but Jo holds a special place in my heart. I think she is the heart of Little Women. And she runs away with the heart of anyone who reads this book.

Dunstan Ramsay FIFTH BUSINESS- I read this book when I was in high school and the main character of Dunstan is still floating around in my mind. You have to read this novel to understand what I am talking about.

TOP TEN: BOOKS THAT BROKE MY HEART

Hey everyone. This week I am participating in Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke And The Bookish. Every Tuesday  over at The Broke and the Bookish they post their top ten lists on various topics. They also have a designated Top Ten Tuesday page where they have previous topics and upcoming topics listed out as well.

This week's top ten is...

TOP TEN BOOKS THAT BROKE MY HEART (in honor of Valentine's day the topic this year is very anti 'love' but fun nonetheless)

1 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
This was the end to an amazing series but I have to say that Rowling did not end the series without plot twists that broke many hearts and shed many tears.

2 Fifth Business
This is one of the great books out there that I am glad I got to read. A story of lost chances and happy ending, even if it does not appear that way to us.

3 Charlottes Web
Who cannot love Charlotte, her web and Wilbur. A childhood favourite of mine, it is filled with warm unforgettable characters. The relationship between Wilbur and Charlotte is unforgettable and sad.

4 Death Of A Salesman
I first read this play in high school and it left such an impression on me. It's about broken dreams and broken lives. This was an amazing play that left me with a deep sense of loss.

5 Romeo and Juliet
A classic love story but also a doomed one. I was not sure I would like it but it really is one of the best love stories told.

6 Flowers For Algernon
A book that made me question what was true intelligence and humanity. It was incredibly sad and incredibly touching as most great books are.

7 Frankenstein
Mary Shelly creates such endearing characters that touch you. The ending was brutal and hard to take.

8 Tess Of The D'Urbervilles
The journey of a young girl who has terrible things happen to her. Great story that will leave you crushed.

9 Hamlet
A tragedy of epic proportions.

10 The Conte of Mote Cristo
Love, betrayal and a lot of heartbreak.

Anna and the French Kiss by ELizabeth Kostova
4. Anna and the French Kiss is a book that spans all age groups. I think anyone who enjoys a good book about first love will love this one. It is well written, funny, witty and captures the feeling of first love perfectly.

Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters by John Steptoe
5. An african tale like that of Cinderella it is both charming and exquisitely illustrated. I grew up reading this book and I still love it. A perfect gift for anyone with young girls.

The Historian by ELizabeth Kostova
6. The Historian is a modern classic. I guarantee that anyone who picks up this book, young and old, will not be dissapointed. It has everything a GREAT story should have. And it was a debut no less. Crazy right!!

Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins
9. The hype surrounding this book matches the content. It is simply amazing. The kind of book that leaves you thinking long after you have finished it. I gave this to my younger sister to read and she fell in love with it.

Game of Thrones
10. This is a series that I would give to any high fantasy fan. It is right up there with great work such as Dune.

TOP TEN CHILDHOOD FAVES

Hey everyone. I am participating for the first time in Top Ten Tuesday hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.  Every Tuesday  over at The Broke and the Bookish they post their top ten lists on various topics. They also have a designated Top Ten Tuesday page where they have previous topics and upcoming topics listed out as well.

This week's top ten is... CHILDHOOD FAVES!!
My love of reading began as a child and so this topic is extra special and fun. It is going to be hard to simply have ten but I will try. List is in no particular order.

Corduroy by Don Freeman
1. Corduroy was one of my favourites as a child. I remember reading this one over and over again. It also made me fall in love with anything bears.. specifically teddy bears.

12 Dancing
Princesses by Marianna Mayer
2. I blogged about this book in Cover(s) to Covet post and the reason is very obvious. The illustrations in this book are INSANELY beautiful and many times did I want to escape into that world and dance with the princesses and their princes.

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodges Burnett
3. When I read this I knew why it was such a classic. I fell in love with the story and it's characters instantly. I still remember the cover art that I also did for the book report I did on it . Classic. Love it.

The Hunters Moon by O.R. Melling
4. This was the first book about faeries that I read. Right now there seems to be a lot of books on faeries but nothing beats this story for me. I still think about it today and have the original copy in my bookshelf.

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
5. Love, love, love this one. I remember the read along we had in class with all the other students. All of us gripped as the teacher read aloud.

The Babysitters Club Ann M. Martin
6. This was the first series that I got really into. I think that I read every Babysitters Club book there was in my library. I also watched the movie.

The Eleventh Hour by Graeme Base
7. This book is a classic in my house. Not many people have heard of it but I fell in love with the illustrations which are out of this world. There is a library in this book that pretty much captures my dream library.

Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume
8. Very popular and a modern classic. After reading this I had to read every Judy Blume book I could get my hands on and I did.

Tales of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter
9. This was another series that I loved. I would sneak away in a corner of the library with a Beatrix Potter book and escape for a while. Memories.

The Complete Hans Christian Andersen by Hans Christian Andersen
10. My go to book for all things fairytales. An omnibus of all the classics like The Little Mermaid, The Snow Queen, The Emperors New Suit and many more.
