ELEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS

To commemorate the holiday season I am going to make a string of special posts inspired by the Twelve Days of Christmas. This year the countdown will be on my favourite film adaptations of books. Keep in mind that in most cases the printed version is still better the film but this list is for films that have done a great job at capturing the spirit of the novel or are just purely entertaining. So enjoy and let the fun begin:)

#12 The Client
#11 Dracula
This 1992 adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel by Francis Ford Coppola (of Godfather Fame) was erie and chilling. Gary Oldman was terrific as the scary and reclusive Dracula. I also enjoyed the background story of how Dracula became the cursed which I thought was interesting. It is a really good adaptation and with so many vampire movies out there this is one of the best and ahead of its time in many ways. For the faint of heart - proceed with caution because this one is bloody and scary.. but in a good way.

  1. hi Darcy. i would have to agree with you. i love this film adaptation and i must have watched it more than 5 times already! its appeal has never diminished. i have a DVD copy, the book of course and i was also fortunate to have found the comic book adaptation of the film too in one of my hunts at a local bookstore. Bram Stoker rocks!
