THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS

THE MOORS YORKSHIRE, ENGLAND
Last year to commemorate the holiday season I made a string of special posts inspired by the Twelve Days of Christmas and this year it is back but the topic is new and I hope just as exciting as the last. This years the countdown will be on Novel Destinations. Stories where the setting was not just a mere back drop but an extra character in the story as well. So enjoy and let the fun begin:)
12 Out of Africa by Karen Blixen
11 Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
10 Quentins by Maeve Binchy
9 The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova
8 Hunchback of Notre-Dame by Victor Hugo
7 City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
6 Persuasion by Jane Austen
5 Tales of the Alhambra by Washington Irving
4 The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares
3 Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
The Moors of Yorkshire England are beautiful, rustic, and a great backdrop for a story as loved as this one. The title of the novel comes from the Yorkshire manor on the moors of the story. The narrative centres on the all-encompassing, passionate but doomed love between Catherine and Heathcliff, and how this unsettled passion eventually destroys them and many around them. Although not as beloved to me as Jane Eyre is, the moors of Wuthering Heights have become imprinted on my psyche as one of the most beautiful places in the UK. And therefore, a place I hope to be able to see.

  1. Since I am in Yorkshire, England I will definitely be going to the Moors. It is a little too cold now but come spring I will be running those fields looking for Heathcliff!

  2. You haven't gone yet:( You must go otherwise it would be a crying shame. But since I will be coming over in a months time... we both can have fun running through the fields looking for Heathcliff!!!
